Reflecting on the incident, Shields attributed the seizure to excessive water intake, which resulted in a lack of sodium in her body. This experience led her to realize the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to hydration and electrolyte levels, highlighting the critical role of proper nutrition in overall health.

Nearly a year later, Shields continues to adapt to her changed perspective on fitness and health. As she navigates her late fifties, she acknowledges the challenges of staying in shape compared to earlier stages of her career. Shields emphasized that maintaining fitness now requires more effort and diligence, acknowledging the natural changes that come with aging.

Despite the challenges, Shields remains committed to her fitness routine, recognizing the benefits it brings to her physical and mental well-being. She shared that training for Broadway remains her favorite form of exercise, highlighting its effectiveness in keeping her strong and fit without feeling like a chore.

In response to changes in her body, particularly in her midsection, Shields has incorporated targeted exercises to address stubborn belly fat. She mentioned the Nofar Method, a rigorous form of pilates that she initially had reservations about but has come to appreciate for its effectiveness in sculpting her physique without impact.

Beyond exercise, Shields also makes adjustments in her lifestyle, such as reducing alcohol intake and incorporating cardio sessions like SoulCycle classes or rowing with music. These additions complement her workout regimen and contribute to maintaining her desired physique and overall health.
