Buc-ee’s is gearing up to open its third location in Kentucky, this time in the southwestern city of Oak Grove. Located just off I-24 and near the Tennessee border, Oak Grove will soon join the list of cities hosting the iconic Texas-based travel center. Interestingly, Buc-ee’s initially had its eye on nearby Clarksville, Tennessee, for a new location, but it seems Oak Grove won the race. This will add to the two existing Buc-ee’s in Kentucky, located in Richmond and Smiths Grove. Fun fact: Smiths Grove is the smallest municipality in the U.S. to boast a Buc-ee’s, despite the chain’s reputation for doing things on a larger-than-life scale.
When it comes to Buc-ee’s, “small” is definitely not in their vocabulary. Known for holding the record for the largest convenience store, the brand is expanding rapidly across the South and into other regions. The company has gained a loyal fan base, thanks in part to its pristine restrooms, endless snack options, and unique offerings like fresh-sliced brisket and kolaches. Not to mention, taking a picture with the beloved beaver statue outside has become a must for travelers.

Buc-ee’s currently has about 50 locations in operation, but that number is set to grow with new stores opening soon in states like Mississippi, North Carolina, and Arkansas. The brand is even making waves in Florida, where a new store under construction in Ocala will soon take the crown as the largest Buc-ee’s. This massive 80,000-square-foot travel center will feature 120 gas pumps and over 720 parking spots, leaving plenty of room for Buc-ee’s fans to flock. Right now, the biggest Buc-ee’s can be found in Luling, Texas, but it won’t hold that title for much longer.
The continued expansion of Buc-ee’s shows no sign of slowing down, as the brand’s mix of Southern hospitality, convenience, and over-the-top amenities keeps winning over travelers across the country.
